White Blood Cell Donations
White Blood Cell Donation, also called Leukapheresis, is the collection of immune effector cells which researchers and clinicians use to develop treatments for diseases and disorders. These cells are collected by an apheresis device, which separates the WBCs from the donor’s blood, and returns the red blood cells, plasma, platelets back to the donor. The WBCs are used to study a wide range of diseases, including cancer, auto-immune disorders, and infections. Additionally, they can be used to develop new cellular therapies to treat these conditions.
